Brief: This project was created as an imaginary publication, for which I had to produce content: visuals (illustration, photos) and text myself.
Insight: I chose marijuana as the subject, as it had recently been legalized in Washington State (2016). I performed detailed research on the demographic and audience for my publication, and it was named after a 1975 song, which makes reference to marijuana as "chocolate." I was inspired by other marijuana-themed publications as well as marijuana packaging, though few of the publications' styles were as creative as I was seeking to achieve.
Method: I took all the photos with my iPhone. I really enjoyed creating product shots (with a cake and materials). .
Takeaway: This was one of the first print pieces I designed, and I learned a lot about pagination, color and production techniques in print, as well as basic proportion and alignment, and how to use a print grid.
